From the Harbour
the harbour and approach a large roundabout. Take the third exit - effectively turning right - (a) and proceed along the sea
front towards St Sampsons. On the way, will pass the following:- The Fresh Food Store (Co-op) on the left - a set of traffic
lights - continue straight - a small roundabout with the Red Lion on the left - continue straight – a small wooded area
on the left with a bus stop and a bus shelter opposite – take the left fork here and note the speed limit of 25 mph
- proceed until you reach traffic lights - go straight and you will see a kitchen store on the left. Immediately after this
is Hill Crest Cottage with parking in the driveway - right, left or straight on.
the Airport By Car
airport and take a left turn, following the curves of the road and passing The Deerhound (excellent bar meals) on your right.
You will come to a set of traffic lights. Go straight ahead past Le Chene Hotel on your right. Pass the Forest Road Garage
on your left. Keep straight on until you reach another set of traffic lights. Turn left and follow the curves again until
you reach another set of traffic lights. Go straight on and you will come to a small roundabout. Go straight ahead - this
is Ville au Roi. Keep on until another set of traffic lights and turn right. You will come to a strange junction with a yellow
grid - in Guernsey this means - Filter in Turn - literally one car from each direction has priority. Turn left. You will come
to another filter - turn right and continue straight, through three sets of traffic lights (plus a final pedestrian traffic
light) until you come to a large roundabout on the sea front. Turn left towards St Sampsons and follow the directions from
From the Harbour by Bus
towards the large roundabout keeping to the footpath on the left. Cross the pedestrian crossing and turn left. Shortly, you
will see two bus stops. You need the first one. You need any bus that is going to the "Halfway" where you alight.
The buses are frequent until dark when they cease running – apart from late buses at certain times.
**When you get out at the petrol station immediately after the
Halfway, turn back with the sea on your left. Then turn right to head inland. After about four hundred
metres, you will come to traffic lights. **** Continue straight and you will see the kitchen store on the
left. Hill Crest is the very next cottage on the left. The ticket will cost £1 for the entire journey as you must tell the
driver your ultimate destination when you board the bus.
Once you reach
Hill Crest, you will get a free bus pass for the duration of your holiday.
From the Airport by Bus
When you come out of the airport building, you will see a bus shelter
Take any bus to
St Peter Port. Change for 11 or 21.
With 11 you need to alight at “Halfway” and follow directions as given in the above section
from **. If you get 21 you can stay on the bus until you reach the first set of traffic lights after “Halfway”
where the bus will make a left turn and you alight at the first bus stop. You need to return to the traffic
lights and turn left. Hill Crest is on the left immediately after the kitchen shop.
The ticket will cost £1 for the entire
journey as you must tell the driver your ultimate destination when you board the bus.

From Anywhere by Taxi.
Just ask for Hill Crest Cottage, St Clair Hill. From the airport,
the fare should be around £15 during the day, more for early morning or late at night. From St Peter Port, the fare
should be around £5 to £6 depending on time of day. Once again - it could be considerably more, late at night.
